Nitrogen-based Specialties

The Flagship Nitrogen-based Specialties develops novel technologies for the production of nitrogen-containing compounds from renewable feedstocks through the use of advanced engineering of micro-organisms. Research within this flagship is focused on the design and optimization of pathways for the production of unnatural compounds that can be used as pharmaceuticals or as building blocks for materials. In addition, this flagship includes high throughput bio-pharmaceutical process development toward the optimization of protein production.
