The Bioprocess Pilot Facility is a state-of-the-art 5.000 m2 facility consisting of piloting equipment, supporting labs and office space. The pilot scale units have to prove the whole integrated process, support the development of scale-up rules and generate basic data for scale-up. The facility offers the following four modules and technologies:

• Modular pretreatment / biorefinery
• Mid-scale and large-scale fermentation
• Downstream processing / Separation technology
• Third generation bioconversion processes
