The 3rd Brazilian BioEnergy Science and Technology Conference in Brazil

The 3rd Brazilian BioEnergy Science and Technology Conference (BBEST) 2017 will be held from 17 to 19 October 2017 at the Campos do Jordão Convention Center in Campos do Jordão, Brazil. BBEST is an international conference on Bioenergy, biobased production and sustainability. Within the broad field of bioeconomy the 3rd edition of BBEST will amongst other be covering topics related to how bioenergy emerges as a possible leverage for paving the global future, the novel synergy scenarios and the many opportunities ahead. This international conference includes scientists, students and leaders of the public and private sectors and is organized by leading scientists from research institutions in Brazil and abroad. The international context of the conference is also reflected in the composition of the Chair(wo)manship; Gláucia Mendes Souza (University of São Paulo, FAPESP BIOEN) and Luuk van der Wielen (TU Delft, BE-Basic, Bernal Institute) and the various Scientific and Advisory Committees.  

Session tracks include:

•   BIOMASS: Agronomy and breeding of sugarcane and other energy crops, genomics, biochemistry, cell biology, physiology and biotechnological aspects of  plant feedstocks.
•   BIOFUEL TECHNOLOGIES: Biomass process engineering and biufuels production.
•   BIOREFINERIES: Integrated focus on sugarchemistry, alcoholchemistry, oil chemistry, bio-based chemicals and biomaterials.
•   ENGINES: Biofuel applications for motor vehicles and other conversion devices including aviation purposes.
•   SUSTAINABILITY AND IMPACTS: Political issues, social, economic and environmental studies.

A fully operated Dutch session on International Biobased Business Development will be held on Wednesday 18 October 2017 (16:00 – 17:30), moderated by Prof. Luuk van der Wielen and presented by Prof. Patricia Osseweijer.
