CSM, Royal DSM and Delft University of Technology invest in Bioprocess Pilot Facility for bio-research

Delft - CSM, Royal DSM and Delft University of Technology are participating in a joint venture for bioprocess research. The new company Bioprocess Pilot Facility BV (BPF) is based in Delft and aims at scale-up research and education for next generation bioprocesses. The official opening of the facility is today May 15, 2012

Biobased Kidshouse opened at Floriade

In the Pavilion of the Dutch Government (het Rijkspaviljoen) at the Floriade in Venlo there is a children’s playhouse that is made entirely from innovative green building materials. All parts of the house have been made from natural materials such as agricultural waste, hemp, tree bark or potato peel. The “Kidshouse” is a striking example of ‘biobased’ building without using chemical materials made from fossil fuels.

BE-Basic and CLIB2021 cooperate in developing the Bio-economy

Orlando, USA - The directors of Germany’s cluster for industrial biotechnology (CLIB2021) and the Netherlands' cluster BE-Basic (Bio-based Ecologically Balanced Sustainable Industrial Chemistry) signed a memorandum of understanding during the BIO World Congress to cooperate in developing the bio-economy.

Oil Palm Biomass Center; industry and academia join forces to benefit economy and climate

Kuala Lumpur – Today Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak launched the Oil Palm Biomass Center (OPBC) in the Malaysian Parliament. OPBC is a Malaysian public-private partnership aiming to accelerate technology development, testing and demonstration for utilization of oil palm biomass.

Malaysian Oil Palm Biomass Center established

Kuala Lumpur - Today Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced the launch of the National Biomass Strategy at the BIO Malaysia Conference and Exhibition in Kuala Lumpur. One of the outcomes is setting up an international Oil Palm Biomass Center (OPBC). Through OPBC, Malaysia aims to create economic value and to reduce Green House Gas emissions.

Essent joins BE-Basic

Delft, The Netherlands – energy supplier Essent has joined BE-Basic as a full consortium party. Within BE-Basic Essent is going to look at the availability and accessibility of sustainable biomass as a fuel for green energy production. In addition BE-Basic and Essent will collaborate on the development of widely accepted certification of new biomass.

BE-Basic and The State of São Paulo Research Foundation, FAPESP (Brazil), issue a Joint Call for Proposals and invite interested researchers within BE-Basic to submit research proposals.
