BE-Basic
BE-Basic supports the development of clean, robust and competitive biobased chemicals, materials and energy industries, including responsible monitoring and control of healthy soil and water environments, on the basis of advanced genomics technologies and bioprocess engineering. BE-Basic unifies the capabilities of Dutch and international worldclass universities, institutes and advanced industries of various scales. For partners see BE-Basic Partners. The BE-Basic Partners are represented in the BE-Basic Board.
Pilot facility
BE-Basic projects the development and operation of a unique Open Innovation, Multi Purpose Bioprocess Pilot Facility infrastructure available for partner organisation for development, testing, demonstration, training purposes, with a well trained crew and management, working at industry standards.
Socio-economic program
BE-Basic cares about responsible development of a biobased economy, and has a dedicated socio-economic program that combines macro-economic and ecological insights with satellite-radar based monitoring of biomass state, yield, and sustainability. BE-Basic is also intensively involved in the creation of the Global Biorenewables Research Society, with partners such as the Energy Biosciences Institute in Berkeley (CA, USA).
Building on breakthroughs
BE-Basic is a public-private partnership that executes an innovation and research program that builds on the recognised breakthroughs of B-Basic and the Ecogenomics consortium. TU Delft is coordinating the new consortium that includes, among others, an R&D budget exceeding 120 million euros.
